The Education Round Table Podcast - Currently in Development

The Education Roundtable is an exciting new podcast bringing together education professionals from across the sector to discuss the issues that matter most. From classroom teachers and SENCOs to school leaders, researchers and specialists, each episode will explore a single question through thoughtful, honest and respectful discussion. Rather than offering simple answers, the podcast aims to examine the complexity of education, challenge assumptions and encourage professional reflection.

Whether you work in education or simply have an interest in improving outcomes for children and young people, The Education Roundtable is designed to provide balanced conversations that inform, inspire and, at times, challenge the way we think.

Our Aim

Education is full of difficult questions, competing priorities and differing perspectives. Too often, these conversations happen behind closed doors—or not at all.

The Education Roundtable exists to create a space where professionals can discuss these issues openly, drawing on their experience, current research and the realities of everyday practice.

Our aim is to:

• Promote respectful professional dialogue.
• Explore educational issues from a range of viewpoints.
• Bridge the gap between research, policy and classroom practice.
• Encourage reflection rather than provide simplistic solutions.
• Build a community of educators committed to improving outcomes for all learners.

Every episode is guided by one principle:

The best conversations don’t always end in agreement—but they should always leave us thinking.

What the Podcast Will Look Like

Each episode will feature a small panel of education professionals representing different roles and experiences.

Episodes will typically run for 35–45 minutes and include:

• A thought-provoking question or topic.
• Roundtable discussion from multiple perspectives.
• Practical classroom and leadership examples.
• Listener questions and real-life scenarios.
• Key reflections and takeaways.

The podcast is designed to feel like sitting around the table with experienced colleagues—sharing ideas, challenging thinking and learning from one another.

Episode 1

Is Inclusion Working—or Are We Getting It Wrong?

What does genuine inclusion look like in today’s schools, and where are the challenges? We’ll explore the balance between meeting individual needs and ensuring the best outcomes for all pupils.

Episode 2

When Behaviour Is Communication… What Do We Actually Do About It?

Behaviour is often described as communication—but what does this really mean in practice? We’ll discuss how schools can respond with empathy while maintaining high expectations and supporting learning for everyone.

Episode 3

Are Schools Doing Too Much?

Schools now play a significant role in safeguarding, mental health, family support and much more. Have expectations expanded beyond what schools were designed or resourced to do, and what does this mean for pupils and staff?

Episode 4

Consistency vs Flexibility: Which Matters More?

Should every child be treated the same, or should support be adapted to meet individual needs? We’ll explore one of the biggest tensions in education: balancing consistency with responsiveness.
